FINE ART
pieces were recently exhibited at StartShows in Tribeca, NY, Philadelphia Brewing Co. in Philadelphia, PA, and Underground Arts in Philadelphia, PA.

RAMA SEETA ELEVATED. I recreated this piece for a client and like all of my work, I refrain from creating exact replicates. I spent time studying scripture and made changes to evoke the emotions of the story of rama and seetha. By depicting them closer together and having them face one another, embellishing both deities, and altering textures even further, I was able to emphasize the duality of the story. Walk through images of the details to further experience the nature and grandiose of the tale.

PASS IT. With a love for drawing hands, smoke, and anything representing friendship, this piece felt natural. hand painted onto a thrifted gold double frame, featuring texture and iridescence through acrylics, this piece also embodIes the collection title of thangam, meaning “Gold” and “my Love”. FOREVER BOND. uses elongated features, complex vines, and intertwined hands to show the strength of those special bonds. they let you grow, and grow stronger, together, until you’re fully connected. More than anything, this piece also draws on the concept of grief and longing. Though we may constantly be growing closer with one another, situationally, there may always be empty space between us, between our two haNds. Whether it be distance, arguments, or even death, no matter how strong your connection is, there might be something in the middle. and that is one of life’s most gruesome situations. I'M LISTENING. is my second portraiture piece I created on glass. I focused on bringing through the emotions you feel leaned up on a couch with your best friends, being so engrossed in their story, so appreciatIve of their soul, that you’re completely present in the moment. This piece offered me the space to play with foregrounds and backgrounds, iridescence, and incorporating true proportions with animated textures. this was painted with acrylics mixed with iridescence, onto the glass of a thrifted frame. JADAI One of the most frequent memories for me is my grandmother oiling my scalp and braiding it after it was done. I used to hate it, sitting between her legs as she vigorously raked through my thick knots. But I cherish those memories now as I braid her hair because she isn’t able to anymore. One of her hands in the image is more gentle, self loving, feminine. And in the other; rough strength.

JIMMIKI. My favorite pair of Jimmikis. Again, this was a piece to play with textures and bring out the subtleties of what is the focal point of many of my outfits. My cousin found this pair at a prayer. The moment we saw the colors, the unique shape, and the gorgeous pearls, we knew we needed Them. I hope this piece brings to you the same admiration for south indian jewelry as it does me. FOR SALE: INQUIRE THROUGH CONTACT TAB

THANGAM. This is the third in my self portraiture series. Through gradients, and playing with textures, I attempted to hint at light sources and soft, weathered fabric. The outfit was based on one of my mother's favorite salwars. Made with acrylics and iridescence on a thrifted frame. FOR SALE: INQUIRE THROUGH CONTACT TAB

RAMA SEETA. Rama and Seeta are used as a representation of married relationships. This was created as a present for a 25th anniversary, and captures the genuity of their relationship. Using acrylics mixed with iridescence, this piece plays with ratios to show a variety of textures.
THANGAM THOUGHTS, the first of the collection, was made for auction at the eli whitney museum in a leonardo davinci exhibit. it features acrylics mixed with an iridescent medium atop glass in a thrifted wooden frame. the piece incorporates the leonardo davinci signature portrait style and his mirror writing. the excerpt written on the bottom, on the back of the frame, is taken from Sri Sai Satcharitra in honor of da vinci’s love for learning and constant quest for development.
WATERBORN Made of acrylic and fabric paint on canvas. These nature series allow me to focus on colorways and line work. You’ll see many of these colors in my other works, and you’ll notice how the combinations almost act as an archive. FOR SALE: INQUIRE THROUGH CONTACT TAB
